With over thirty years experience in various IT management and consulting roles,
we have learnt some things that may mean we can help you. Our experiences include:
- Sales, consulting and operations management positions in a $A200m professional services business, achieving results on all elements of the balanced scorecard.
- CIO.
- Management of a process manufacturing plant.
- Commercial skills covering strategy, business planning, cost management, proposal management and review, contract negotiation and management.
- Information technology skills covering project portfolio management, outsourcing as both customer and supplier, and outsourcing contract management.
- Personal skills covering analysis, problem solving, and facilitation for small teams through to large groups.
- Mentoring and coordinating mentoring programs, covering leadership mentoring and management (particularly IT management) mentoring.
If we are going to work together, you need to know something of our management biases:
More recently, we have added Bridge teaching and directing:
- Work should be fun (at least some of the time!). We spend far too much of our lives at work not to enjoy it.
- A team-oriented culture out-performs an individualistic culture, and is a more enjoyable work environment.
- Employee satisfaction is a driver of customer satisfaction, with a lead time (maybe six months), which is a driver of profitability, with a lead time (maybe 12 months).
- More information is almost always better.
- The behaviour of the senior management team, as a team, will mirror the behaviour of the overall organisation.
- Given a direction, information sharing and strong relationships, an organisation can deliver excellent results in the face of considerable uncertainty.
- Leadership is a set of activities and is completely different to authority. People with no authority can and do demonstrate leadership, and people with authority sadly often fail to demonstrate leadership.
- Beginners and intermediate teaching, using Standard American, 5 card major, better minor, strong no trump, two over one game force.
- Bridge directing, for simple club-level events only (at this stage).
